It's Complicated

It's funny that it's so hard to send a son on a mission when that has been one of our biggest hopes for our boys for so long.  We've taught them and hoped and prayed that they would go, but that doesn't mean that it's easy to send them off.  We're so excited but also a little sad and nervous.  It's so complicated!

I'll post some MTC drop-off pictures in a day or two.

Yes, I would have to agree. I never understood just how complicated sending my son, my firstborn, off into the world. Although I knew it would be one of the most incredible experiences of "his" life, I never realized how much I would learn and grow. As my heart heart jumps for joy for you to experience this, it also aches knowing of the tears the tears that will be shed because of his absence.

Just know you are not in this alone. He is now the Lord's and as he serves you feel things and have experiences you never could imagine. I dream every now and again about the day that I will once again embrace him in my arms. I believe this in an indication of how our Heavenly Father feels for each one of us and this is how he gives us a little taste of what it will be like when we return home to him.

Sally, enjoy this journey. Watch for the tender mercies, they will be there and in a blink of an eye will be gone. That's Heavenly Father's way of reminding us that our son's are well. Just remember you will never look at missionary without thinking of your own first.

Take Care

Amen sister! It's not an easy thing that's for sure. From one with a son who has been out 14 months, the growth and experience is amazing for them. Not easy to see them off but so exciting for them to return!

Wow! What a big step.
No great advice here, just standing in awe. It really happens, doesn't it?
Glad I have a few more years to not believe it's going to happen to me!
