Adopted family

My kids thought Jessica Phillips was their cousin for years, and she seems to fit right in with the goofiness that is generally our family. She's Becky and Dave's niece, so not an actual relation, but we claim her anyway and love to have her visit. We decided to have a girls night and this is what happened.

My Favorite Book Club Picks This Year

Major Pettigrew's Last Stand by Helen Simonson. Charming story about a stuffy British Major who falls in love with a Pakistani shop owner. I loved these characters!
The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society. Wonderful book about a group of friends during the German occupation of the Channel Islands.
Girl in Hyacinth Blue by Susan Vreeland. Tells the tale of a Vermeer painting as it travels from owner to owner, touching lives. I loved it!
Persian Pickle Club by Sandra Dallas. A funny and poignant story about a group of quilters during the depression. Lots of fun!
The Book Thief by Markus Zusak. Creatively told through the eyes of Death, this story follows a German girl during World War II. I couldn't put it down!
