D.C., 1st Day

We picked a terrific time to visit Washington, D.C.  The magnolia and cherry trees were blooming, and everything was beautiful, including the weather.  D.C. can get pretty muggy, but it was in the mid-70's while we were there.  Perfect!

Our hotel, Capitol Inn Suites, was just a block from the Capitol and was surrounded by lots of charming, brightly-painted rowhouses.  One of them was listed for sale at $869,000, and it was several blocks from the Capitol!  In the evenings we would wander around the neighborhood, checking out the shops and admiring the buildings.

 

I spent the first day in Senate training learning about casework and dealing with difficult constituents.  Del spent it looking through the Air and Space Museum and other places that I didn't want to visit.  He took lots of pictures, though, so I feel like I was there.

He got to see John Glenn's space suit, which was really cool.  He also saw lots of planes and shuttles, but unfortunately I don't know what they are, so I just included some interesting pictures without any captions.
