Girls Camp 2015

Girls camp is always such a fabulous experience, and this year was no exception!
We decided to have a camp band and encouraged the girls to learn our camp songs, Called to Serve and Someone He Can Count On, on their instruments before camp.  We had practice sessions and they became really good.  We had mostly guitars and ukuleles but even a violin!  I know of at least four girls who bought ukuleles after camp just so they could play in next year's camp band.  It was a big hit!

Another popular new thing this year was archery.  Emma spent most of her free time over at the archery hill with Ashelee Rasmussen teaching her to improve her aim.  She got pretty good at it and wanted to buy lots of equipment as soon as she got home.  Thanks, Ashelee!
Maren and Lauren Holmstead were called to be 1st level assistants, and they did a wonderful job.  The 12 year old girls idolized them and had lots of fun being silly with these two best friends.
Maren and Lauren took a break to try their hand at archery, too.  Lauren drew their target, a trio of dastardly ninjas.

We invited a few people to Camp Cumorah for the day to be kitchen help and hang out with the girls.  Eldon and Marcia Payne, two of my favorite people, came up and cooked for us.  Marcia was one of my young women leaders and Eldon was my bishop when I was a teenager.  Great memories!
